High Speed Chase ends in Police Standoff

UPDATE: According to the Lisbon Morning Journal; The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Ricky Crawford.

The Morning Journal and Columbiana County Sheriff, Ray Stone said, Crawford never fired any shots and pointing his handgun mainly at his own head. Sheriff Stone said the incident appeared to be a suicide by cop attempt, but he did turn himself in peacefully in the end.

Police in Wells Township said their officers received a call around 2P.M. on Tuesday of a suicidal man who had just hopped behind the wheel of a car with a handgun.

Officers said the man was at a home on Township Road 159 before leaving with the handgun.

According to our CBS Affiliates at WKBN; A high-speed chase started when police say the driver, who is yet to be identified, would not stop. The chase was finally brought to an end near Calcutta, in Columbiana County, around 6P.M.

There both lanes of State Route 11 between the State Route 170 exit and East Liverpool were closed during the afternoon.

State Highway Patrol Troopers from Lisbon said they assisted authorities in Jefferson County with the chase.

We have reached out to the Captain working the case, but we are still waiting to hear back.
