Homemade License Plate Results In Felony Arrest

An upstate New York woman is facing a felony charge after Erie County Sheriff’s deputies say she was caught driving with a fake license plate.

One officer observed a woman driving a vehicle with no front license plate and a rear license plate that was obviously an imitation New York license plate.

According to police, Amanda Schweickert, 28, was operating the vehicle with a suspended registration and without insurance.

The fake license plate was constructed of cardboard and painted to replicate a New York plate.

Schweickert was sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $400 bail.
