If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you may want to head down to John Marshall High School.
Their theater group called Monarch Company is presenting “HONK! The Musical.”
It’s a musical version of the Hans Christian Anderson story “The Ugly Duckling.”
Under the direction of music instructor Tracy Filben, more than forty students are in the production.
It will also feature a live music pit made up of several local musicians.
“The show follows along with Ugly, the Ugly Duckling’s life and all of the struggles that he has to go through to find his place. I’m very excited to see the turnout this weekend. It’s buzzing, everybody is pretty excited for the musical,” said Joseph Lucey.
“It’s a challenge but in the long run it pays of and I think it went great,” said Madisyn Mager.
For the first time students will be able to run sound and lighting for the show, thanks to a brand new, state of the art lighting and sound system.
There will be two shows Friday and Saturday both starting at 7:00 p.m. and a matinee performance Sunday at 2:30 in the afternoon.
