Investigators in West Virginia may have found a break in an 18-year-old cold case.
Human remains found under the New River Gorge Bridge could be linked to the disappearance of Robert Kovack. Park Rangers were notified of decaying bones early Thursday afternoon.
Kovack, a student at Virginia Tech, was last seen on September 19, 1998. He was heading home to Riversville, West Virginia for the weekend. His mother, Jacqueline, tried contacting him for 3 days before notifying police.
On September 22, 1998, Kovack’s Geo Tracker was found just beyond the New River Gorge Bridge.
The West Virginia State Police will be contacting the Smithsonian about the human remains. No further information has been released at this time.
