The million dollar Interstate 70 Mall Road Interchange Project that started back in May will cross I-70 from the Ohio Valley Plaza and join with Mall Road.
The Connector project is moving right on schedule as the pavement has started to go down.
The road will go behind Sam’s Club and Lowe’s, and ODOT will pick it up from there.
It will eliminate traffic congestion making for safer roadways, as well as bring economic development.
Belmont County Commissioner President Mark Thomas says as long as everything continues to stay on track, phase one will be completed in October and they will be able to begin phase two.
“We will be meeting with ODOT and we will be attending our phase two presentation at that point we will be promoting what we have completed and asking ODOT for additional money so the state can pick up that road,” said Belmont County Commissioner Mark Thomas.
Thomas says they will travel to Columbus for the meeting on phase two on October 13th.
The entire road is planned to be open by late 2018.
