Indian Creek High School Students Serving Up Smiles at Urban Mission Ministries

Urban Mission Ministries of Steubenville is receiving some help from the Indian Creek High School Key Club for upcoming holiday season.

A number of student members helped kick off the organization’s “I Support The Turkey” Thanksgiving food drive by filming a public service announcement for television.

Key Club advisor, Julie Robinson said the students will be at the site on North Fifth Street on Nov.19 and Dec. 10 to help the food program and thousands of people.

Senior Luke Carroll has assisted the Urban Mission and even the United Way for the past six years, before he became involved with Key Club.

“I really do enjoy going,” Carroll said. “It’s a nice atmosphere and the people are nice there. They are happy we’re there and we’re helping.

Rev. Ashley Steele, executive director of Urban Mission Ministries, said the club’s support has helped to make a positive impact.

“We could not do what we do without the help of schools and Indian Creek has been supportive of our work,” she said.

The Urban Mission typically gives food to clients each week and is holding its Thanksgiving distribution on Nov. 19-21. In addition, it is planning a holiday meal on Nov. 26. For more information, contact the organization at (740) 264-8010.
