Motorists need to be aware of some traffic restrictions that started Friday night.
Interstate 70 traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction at State Route 9 (Exit 216) in Belmont County and will remain that way the entire weekend and next weekend to wrap up work on the two-year, $9.7 million bridge replacement project. .Ohio Department of Transportation contractor, Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio, will begin milling the roadway for surface course paving Friday night.
Work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday morning, June 1.
Traffic is expected to be restricted again next weekend during the same timeframe for paving.
Motorists are urged to use caution and alternate routes, if possible, to avoid delays.
This project included the rehabilitation of the I-70 bridge over SR 9 at St. Clairsville, lengthening the westbound I-70 on-ramp from SR 9, and replacing the bridge that carries I-70 over the National Road Bikeway and Chambers Run.
