The Steubenville Fire Department is investigating after multiple fires broke out late Saturday night.

According to fire officials, they received a call around 11:15 Saturday night about two unoccupied  homes on fire on North 8th Street. Firefighters were able to save one of the neighboring homes from burning, but the buildings at 221 and 223 were destroyed.

About 20 minutes into fighting those fires, the department received another call about an unoccupied structure on Marsh Avenue that was also fully involved. That building was also a total loss.

All of the fires are under investigation, and the fire chief is expected to release more information on Monday.

The Wintersville, Mingo Junction and Weirton Fire Departments assisted Steubenville in fighting the fires.

They cleared the scenes of the fires at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
