Investigation is Under Way into Fatal Electrical Accident

has learned the two workers involved in the electrical accident were working for American Electric Power at the time from Virginia based Davis H. Elliot Contractors.

According to AEP, the two were replacing stolen copper wire in the Goshorn Ridge area of Marshall County.

UPDATE: 

Emergency Management officials at the scene are saying one person has died after being electrocuted, another taken by medical helicopter to a hospital following an electrical accident in Marshall County.


Authorities received a call about 2:21 p.m. about an electrical accident outside the Marshall County Mine, Cameron Portal.


Right now Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Cameron police, Marshall County sheriff, Tri-state and Air Evac 78 out of Wetzel County are at the scene.

EMA officials say the call came in at about 2:21 p.m. They say the incident is an industrial accident.

No word yet on the status of the victims.
