West Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the homicide of Carl Michael Thompson, but are growing frustrated by the lack of cooperation from the community.
Police believe the lack of cooperation may stem from fear of those involved.
Thompson’s body was found last month burned beyond recognition. It is believed to have been committed by people Thompson was associated, many of whom have been involved in past criminal activity in Marshall County.
State Police confirmed that Thompson was shot in the head by a small caliber firearm and his body was wrapped in a hand-made quilt and then a tarp.
Police believe the person who set the fire used an accelerate to ignite the fire.
The Investigative Team is seeking assistance form the residents of Marshall County and the Proctor area of Wetzel County, where the victim’s body was discovered.
