A man charged with pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material is back behind bars Wednesday night after being arrested for the alleged rape of a six-year-old.
The arrest of Jason Rivers, 33, comes after a two month investigation into the alleged incidents.
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said evidence that came back from Ohio BCI shows that Rivers engaged in sexual contact with the child.
He’s also facing two counts of pandering obscenity.
At his last hearing on May 11, Rivers bond was reduced from $100,000 to $2,500. Officials said they dropped his bond because his charges qualified as “F4” and “F5”, he had no criminal record, and he was a military veteran.
Rivers is the co-defendant in the case of Abigal Mann, who was recently indicted on one count of rape, pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and illegal use of a minor.
Abdalla said he received several pages of text messages between Mann and Rivers where the two were speaking about having sex with young children.
The case against Rivers will likely be presented to the grand jury.
