The Jefferson County Community Action Council Summer Cooling program is set to begin July 1st to help those living in poverty pay their electric and air conditioning bills this summer.
To qualify for the Summer Cooling Program, people must have a documented medical condition, be a family with a disconnection notice, or seniors age 60 and above.
The maximum income for a four-person family is just over $42,000 to qualify. The Summer Cooling program does have a maximum benefit of $250 for regulated customers and $300 for unregulated.
