A Jefferson County woman will spend the next three years in prison for the burglary of an 89-year-old woman.
Thelma Charvat’s son detailed the physical and mental deterioration his mother is suffering from since she was robbed of more than $25,000 worth of jewelry by Kasia Freese.
Freese pleaded guilty to burglarizing a Dillonvale home on July 17, 2016.

While pleading guilty on Monday, Freese says she suffers from a severe heroin addiction and hopes to get help when she is in jail.
“Whether (the jewelry) was worth a dollar or a million dollars, the sentimental value attached to those things, that’s what’s important. The fact that she now, every time she lays her head down at night, worries whether somebody is going to be in her house trying to steal what has so hard (gets choked up) earned. Do you understand that,” asked Judge Michelle Miller.
