Jevante Childs decided to change his plea to guilty and is sentenced to six months in prison.

ORIGINAL STORYThe trial of a Jefferson County, OH man charged with burglary after police say he was found hiding in a couple’s home, will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.

On Wednesday, Jevante Childs turned down a deal to serve six months in prison for a guilty plea to his burglary charge. Childs could now face 18 months in prison if he’s found guilty by the jury.

Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin says her office has had a long history with Childs.

“It just seems as though every time he is released from prison within days, weeks, months, we have him back on the radar again,” she said.Childs had previously entered a plea but it was retracted when the Eastern Ohio Correction Center wouldn’t accept him due to his criminal history.
