Jim Justice owes $15 Million, according to NPR

An investigation conducted by National Public Radio says West Virginia businessman Jim Justice owes $15-million in fines and back taxes.

Justice, who also owns the Greenbrier Resort, is this year’s democratic nominee for the Governor of West Virginia.

Of the 15 million owed, $2.8 million is owed by Justice’s companies in West Virginia.
his campaign issued a statement saying justice is on a “payment plan” to make good on these commitments.

Billy Shelton, an attorney for Justice Companies, issued the following statement:

“Unlike the coal companies that filed for bankruptcy and walked away from their obligations, the Justice Companies are being responsible and following the agreed upon payment plan. 

I’ve dealt with these issues many times during my legal career, and the Justice Companies are taking the proper steps to make good on all MSHA commitments.

To imply anything beyond that is purely for political reasons and ignores the facts.”

Grant Herring, the Communications Director for Justice’s campaign, said:

“The political silly season is here because this reporter is attacking Jim Justice for supporting the Boy Scouts with a $5 million contribution and a land donation. Jim is a giver; he always has and always will support great causes.”

Bill Cole, the Republican nominee for the Governor of West Virginia and Justice’s opponent in this election, put several tweets out about the report including this one:
