The Wheeling Cat is tuning up for his final summer concert tour and the Friendly City has declared Wednesday, June 10 ‘Slim Lehart Day’ to honor the occasion.
Wednesday night, Slim Lehart and the Wheeling Feeling will be playing for Waterfront Wednesday, which Slim says will be his last outdoor concert.
The country music star’s career began more than 50 years ago and took him from Canada to Florida and even overseas to England.
“It’s been a long road, it’s been good, it’s been bad. Sometimes there was some bad times but overall it’s been my life and I’ve enjoyed it immensely really. I enjoy people and that’s where I come from,” said Slim.
Slim also said his greatest memory is when Johnny Cash actually opened up for him in Nashville and used his guitar he still plays today.
Wednesday’s performance starts at 7 PM at Heritage Port.
Slim says he might still occasionally play in clubs but nothing is scheduled.
