Kepner Funeral Home in Elm Grove raised a Donate Life flag and awareness Tuesday night as part of Donate Life Month.
The Center for Organ Recovery and Education in Pittsburgh came down to talk about the benefits of organ and tissue donation.
Terry Green, who received a heart transplant in 2009 and Jody Miller whose daughter Heather donated her organs after dying in a car accident in 2012 also attended to help spread the message.
“The story has been just so powerful and it’s helped us move through the grief and she saved four lives in that and also enhanced up to 50 other lives. So it’s pretty powerful stuff,” Miller said.
One person’s organ donation can save up to eight lives while their tissue donation could enhance the lives of up to 50 people.
