Landslide Closes a Portion of Route 7

UPDATE: Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation say the southbound travel lane of Route 7 in Mingo Junction will remain closed for further evaluation, but the southbound passing lane will remain open to traffic.

A landslide overnight has closed down a portion of Route 7 Thursday morning.

The landslide occurred in the southbound, right lane of Route 7 between Steubenville and Mingo Junction.

The landslide caused a large boulder to fall near right around Mile Marker 15, the left lane is open.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say they will not be able to remove it until sometime later in the morning.

As you are driving this morning, take it slow and expect some possible delays while traveling through that area.
