One Marshall County girl has received the chance to follow her dreams and take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Claudia Callahan, 13, of Limestone, has been chosen to represent the United States on the American Dance Team as they compete in Spain next summer.
Claudia has been involved in competitive dancing for the last eight years, but she has been dancing since before she turned two-years-old. Aside from dancing, Claudia is also a straight-A student at Sherrard Middle School, and she serves as the 2014 Marshall County Fair Teen Queen. She is one of 15 chosen to take part in the international competition.
“I’m just real excited and I’m happy that I got the opportunity to do this, because not a lot of people do this and competing for the World Cup has been one of my dreams of dance, since I was little,” she said.
This is the 11th time the American Dance Team has competed in the World Dance Championship. The team has won a total of six of those.
The trip will cost Claudia’s family $8,000, so in order to raise money, they are selling candy bars and will have a tag day at the Moundsville Walmart on Sunday, October 26.
