Local Army Veteran, Loses Everything After in House Fire

Donations have been set up for two families who lost their homes after a massive fire in Jefferson County.

This happened early Monday on Township Road in Dillonvale.

The man who lives in the house where the fire started says he started a fire in his wood burner then went next door to his parent’s home for a few minutes.  When he returned, he found his house full of smoke

He managed to get his pets and some guns out of his home before it burned down. He then went next door to tell his neighbor and her son to get out of their home. Shortly after, wind carried the flames to their house, catching it on fire as well, causing both families to lose everything.

“It was fully engulfed. It was already gone when we got here,” said Brian Vargo with the Dillonvale Fire Department.

The Red Cross was on scene as well, gathering information on how to help the families

Donations can be dropped off or mailed in to any local Citizens Bank care of the Stevens and Andress families.

There has also been a GoFund Me page set up.
