Experts are now giving their analysis on the water issue happening in Scio.
Douglas Swartz, an Associate Professor of Chemistry at West Liberty University says whether it’s treated or not, manganese is a naturally occurring element found in soil and in water.
He says he and his students have been water testing and have been focusing on this throughout the summer.
“What they don’t want to do is add more chemical and maybe have some possible repercussions and making the water, maybe it could be corrosive,” said Swartz.
If those pipes were to become more corrosive that could lead to more problems, like scaling, and leaching of old pipes.
