The Wheeling Fire Department opened their doors to the community Saturday to cap off Fire Prevention Week.
Friends, family, and neighbors came into headquarters for a chance to see how all the equipment works and ask any questions they might have. Sparky the Dalmatian was also there to help kids with the fire hose and teach CPR. It was a great chance for not only kids, but adults in the Friendly City to learn how to prevent fires and understand what firemen go through every day.
“This is the end of Fire Prevention Week, Fire Prevention Week is usually the first week in October. We thought we would end Fire Prevention Week by having an open house at the fire station, familiarizing people with the type of equipment we have and the services we provide to them,” Said Wheeling Fire Department Assistant Chief Ed Geisel.
The Wheeling Fire Department is still in the middle of their Pink T-shirt sale for the entire month of October. The money raised from this years sale with help the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program. You can pick them up at any Wheeling Fire Station.
