Local Law Enforcement Growing Beards For Cancer Awareness

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office will team up with the Weirton, New Cumberland, and Chester Police Departments for “No-Shave November”.   

All proceeds raised from the event will go towards cancer awareness.

The departments raised a total of $3,908 last year thanks to donations and support from the community.

Because of its success, the departments collectively have set a goal of $5,000.

“Most of the members of our department have been personally impacted by cancer in one way or another,” said Sheriff Ralph Fletcher.

“We’ve all had family or friends affected or taken by this horrible disease. This is a great cause and I am pleased that our department will once again be involved.”

Officers in each department will be seeking sponsors to raise $100 or more each to donate to the American Cancer Society.
