One local man is lucky to be alive after he fell from a semi-truck inside the Wheeling Tunnel.
When Wheeling Police officers arrived on scene they found 37 year-old Rodney King running east on Chapline Street.
King, who’s originally from Martins Ferry, told officers he jumped onto the semi at 7-11 in downtown Wheeling after drinking at one of the bars nearby.
He hoped to ride on the back until reaching Pennsylvania, where he’d meet family members.
The situation became life-threatening when King lost his grip when the truck started gaining speed.
Officers noticed a a bump on the left side of his head as well as minor cuts and scrapes to his arms and knees.
After he was cleared at the hospital, King was issued a citation for public intoxication and his parents were notified.
