With the holiday season fast approaching, a local police force is beginning preparations to help less fortunate local kids during Christmas.

The New Martinsville Police Department is starting to collect money for their annual shop with a cop, which will be renamed “Shop With First Responders” this year.

They will be accepting donations from now until December 14, when they plan on taking selected local students shopping for Christmas presents. “Our local fire department has been helping us raise money so we’re all going to get together and shop with some students this year from Magnolia High School and New Martinsville grade school,” New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil said.

Anyone who would like to help out can send their monetary donation to 193 Main Street, New Martinsville, West Virginia, in care of the New Martinsville Police Department.
