Harrison County Sheriff Joe Myers is asking drivers in the oil and gas industry to slow down and share the road.
During his monthly oil and gas safety meeting this morning, Sheriff Myers discussed how he’s seen an increase in the amount of erratic driving done by crude oil truck drivers.
He’s working with Ohio State Highway Patrol and Licensed Commercial Standards Unit to slow these trucks down.
“To make sure that these trucks are doing what they’re supposed, to make sure these drivers aren’t over on their logs, make sure all of that,” said Myers. “The worst thing I have to go out on is a crash involving a tractor trailer and somebody of our constituents.”
Myers says some of the roads he’s noticed with these erratic drivers include State Route 151 between State Route 250 and US 22 as well as Route 9.
He adds that authorities have even decreased the speed in some areas as a result of this.
