One local teen received some great news this past week.

Kaylee Miller, who just graduated Wheeling Park, found out that she will continue her cheerleading career at the next level.

Miller will be headed to Stanford University, where she will study Macro-economics. She has been a standout on the Patriots cheering squad all throughout high school and wanted to continue her  career in college. She submitted a ten minute video to Stanford’s cheering coach and was just notified that she did indeed make the cut.

“I am extremely excited. I found out this week I made the varsity cheering squad, so I will get to travel with the football team, the men’s and women’s basketball teams. I haven’t met anyone else on the team yet but I’ve met with both coaches and I’m real excited to jump into a new team of people,” said Miller.

“It’s kind of bittersweet. We are all very sad to see her go that far away but I think we are all very excited to see what she is able to accomplish in such a large arena,” said Shawna Shepherd, WPHS Cheering Coach.

Miller is also a standout on the track team and is involved in a large number of school activities.
