Local University Gathers Toys for Needy Children

A local university was a big help in gathering and donating toys for kids in the Ohio Valley who’s parents are struggling to make ends meet.

Wheeling Jesuit University holds a toy drive every year during their Christmas Pot Luck Luncheon. This year, they decided to support Catholic Charities and they’ve gathered enough toys for 300 kids from age two to 12.

Each boy or girl will receive a book, an article of clothing and a toy, and it was a Wheeling Jesuit sports team who went out and bought a big portion of these toys.  “There were 15 students who are members, toys for the children each year,” said Becky Forney, the WJU Professional Graduate Studies Director.

The toys will be given out to about 300 young kids on Monday at noon at Catholic Charities.
