The Magnolia Blue Eagles, coming off a 26-point loss against Monroe Central, knocked off previously unbeaten Wheeling Central 74-63 in the Undo’s Holiday Tournament at Wheeling Jesuit University.
Magnolia’s Preston Boswell and Spencer Campbell each scored 24 points, and Kyle Ritz added 18 points in the Blue Eagles victory. Wheeling Central was paced by Trenton Smith’s 19 points. Chase Harler was limited to a dozen. Magnolia outscored the Maroon Knights 26-12 in the fourth quarter.
Magnolia will now play Bishop Donahue in Saturday’s final, after the Bishops’ 73-42 win over Steubenville Central.
The Bishops had four double-figure scorers, led by Brett Moore’s 20 points, Taylor Straughn scored 14, Jesse Padlow 13 and Josh Miller added 11. Tony Barber poured in 17 for the Crusaders.
On the girls side, Wheeling Central defeated Madonna 64-36 behind 19 points from Lindsey Baker. Monica Bragg also scored 19 for the Lady Blue Dons. The Lady Maroon Knights will face Steubenville Central in tomorrow’s final. The Crusaders knocked off Bishop Donahue 58-55, despite 24 points from Jewel Purpura.
