It might be hard to believe, but it’s already August and almost time for Ohio Valley students to head back to school.

Getting ready for another school year means another year of shopping for what students need whether it’s in the classroom or new clothes.

The school supply lists can cause just a little bit of added stress, however there are plenty in the Ohio Valley who are helping to eliminate that stress.

This Wednesday, August 5th, students in Marshall County Schools can get free school supplies as part of the 15th Annual Back to School Fun Fair.
The fair runs from 8:00 a.m. till noon in Moundsville at the former West Virginia Penitentiary. Any student in pre-school through 12th grade can pick out a book bag, pencils, pens, notebooks, and more as long as they’re with a parent.
Last year more than 1,200 families received school supplies.

This coming Saturday, August 8th, the North Wheeling Youth Community Center will hold their annual Adopt-A-Student Program. Supplies will be given away to students from kindergarten to college beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Wal-Mart is in the middle of their big Back to School sale with tons of deals online on everything from clothing to electronics to dorm necessities and of course school supplies.
They’re also offering shipping on all orders over $35 however those deals wrap up Monday, August 3rd.

And if you or your student or students need new clothes for the school year, the Ohio Valley Mall will be offering tax-free shopping this coming weekend for back to school merchandise from Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9th.

There’s still a little bit of summer left, but for a list of most of the back to school start dates in the Ohio Valley you can check out WTRF.com.
