Man Accused of Sexual Abuse Against Family Member in Brooke County Court

The man accused of having a sexual relations with a 13-year-old family member for 5 years was in a Brooke County courtroom on Monday.
Zachary Allen’s attorney waived his right to a preliminary hearing. During the hearing, Allen’s attorney asked if his bond could be reduced from $90,000, and that he be placed on GPS monitoring and house arrest.

The request was denied by the judge and Prosecutor Joe Barki.

“For the well being of the alleged victims in these cases, we believe a substantial bond needs to be in place to protect people. The bond in this case given the natural of the charges are more than reasonable,” Barki said.

The alleged incidents were reported to West Virginia State Police Sergeant Adams by the child’s school counselor.

Allen is facing charges of sexual abuse by a guardian, sexual assault, and incest. His case will be bound over to circuit court where Barki said his case will most likely be presented to the June Grand Jury.
