Man Accused of Sexual Assault and Death of Infant Appears in Court

The man accused of sexual abuse and the death of a 9-month-old appeared in court Thursday.

32-year-old Benjamin Taylor was arraigned Thursday from South Central Regional Jail.

The entire time he remained relatively emotionless

We didn’t see much reaction, even as the magistrate read through pages of this violent and sexual attack; detailing the amount of blood found at the scene and the injuries found on little Emmaleigh Barringer.

Many details are too graphic to reveal but ended in an infant bruised, bleeding shaken and strangled; eventually leading to her death.

Taylor now faces a charge of murder in the first degree which carries a life sentence without bond

Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs says this is a reminder to us all to hug our children a little tighter

“There’s no words to describe it truthfully myself and my officers we have children you imagine what it’s like for everyone just listening to it versus having to deal with it first hand first person it’s truly unimaginable as to what’s occurred here,” said Sheriff Boggs.

Boggs says they’ll soon set a preliminary hearing date.
