A man was arrested on Monday in Wheeling for driving a stolen vehicle.
According to the West Virginia State Police, they conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and South Broadway Street on a stolen 2004 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was determined to have been reported stolen on Tuesday, November 3 to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers from the West Virginia State Police and Wheeling Police arrested the driver, Jason S. Goundry, 43, for operating the stolen car. A passenger of the vehicle was detained, but then later released.
Goundry was reportedly released from an Ohio prison on Monday, November 2, and had allegedly robbed a victim at knife point before restraining him and stealing his vehicle from his home. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating that incident.
Goundry is being charged by state police for feloniously transporting a stolen vehicle into West Virginia. He was taken to the Northern Regional Jail to await his arraignment by Ohio County Magistrate Harry Radcliffe.
