PITTSBURGH (AP) – A man jailed on federal heroin and weapons charges is now also charged with killing a Pittsburgh woman who was cooperating with authorities in a related money laundering investigation.
U.S. Attorney David Hickton in Pittsburgh has called a news conference Monday to discuss new charges against 35-year-old Price Montgomery. One of his attorneys declined comment.
Montgomery was charged by federal authorities in Cleveland last year with soliciting the shooting of two other unnamed witnesses.
Now authorities have named Montgomery as a shooter who killed Tina Crawford and wounded her mother as Crawford prepared to leave her Pittsburgh home to meet with authorities in August 2014.
He’s not charged with homicide, but with federal crimes including tampering with a witness by killing a person, which carries life in prison.
