Man leads police on high-speed chase in Jefferson County

A chase with an average speed of more than 90 miles-per-hour ends in Jefferson County with the suspect jumping out of his car.

25-year-old Frederick Orr is in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting charges after he led police on a high-speed chase through two counties.

It all started after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers tried pulling Orr over for speeding on 22 East near Broadacre. That’s when police say Orr took off through Wintersville, Steubenville, and eventually up Route 7 North before jumping out of his car in Wellsville.

Orr was not injured, but had to be tazed before being taken into custody.

Nothing illegal was found in the car, but Orr is wanted on a parole violation out of Columbus and was wearing an ankle monitoring device.

Troopers from Wintersville and Lisbon post were involved as well as Steubenville and Wintersville Police Departments.
