Man Wanted in Steubenville Shooting Arrested

A man who has been on the run for more than a month after allegedly being involved in a shooting in Steubenville was arrested on Thursday.

Steubenville Police said they received a tip that Jevante Childs was somewhere in the North End projects. A team of officers assembled and were able to check a number of houses on North 6th Street. When they checked one particular home, Ta’Kim Green told police that Childs wasn’t there, but he was actually hiding upstairs.

Childs is charged with felonious assault, a parole violation and burglary. Green is charged with burglary and obstructing justice.

The shooting happened on September 16 on North 6th Street. The victim, Jimmale Harton was shot twice in the upper leg.
