Manager Injured During Robbery in Downtown Wheeling

Just after 7AM Friday, police said a man walked into the Subway on Market Street and demanded the only employee working at the time, handover all the cash in the drawer; all the while holding a knife.

That female victim was recovering after witnesses near the scene said she was cut during the incident. Police quickly responded and found the female clerk visibly shaken.

According to a police report; the victim was forced into a corner, before she handed over an undisclosed amount of money.

The store remained closed while police continued to their investigations, “The lady that manages the place is super tiny, super nice, really nice to everybody and that a man had robbed her, you know this a mask on,” said Robin Rusk who lives near the area and has a friend who also works at the store.

“(He) Only got $100 and had cut her hand, anyways. He still cut her even though he had gotten the money from her,” Rusk added.

The suspect is described as white male, short and small in stature. Police said he was wearing a dark hoody and left the store headed in an unknown direction.
