Good news for drivers in Belmont County as traffic congestion may finally be becoming to an end in Bridgeport.
After almost a year of construction, several detours, and multiple traffic headaches, the nearly $9 million Marion Street Bridge project could be completed and re-opened as early as Thursday evening.
However, the eastbound on ramp will remain closed throughout the winter.
Project Engineer Brett Porter says the weather has been on their side but they have experienced several design and material delays they weren’t expecting.
“We have had a lot of delays, excusable delays on the project, so for the last month and a half we accelerated the construction and had them work 7 days a week to get it open before winter,” Porter said.
Crews are working on installing two pieces of bridge railing that they hope to have completed by Thursday.
