A Marshall County man is behind bars after allegedly firing shots at his son Wednesday night.Ronald “Rex” Young, 87, was charged with attempted murder and wanton endangerment with a firearm.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynn Camp area on Fish Creek Road.
Police said Young’s son called 911 claiming that his father allegedly shot at him during a fight. He said his father tried to shoot at him a second time, but his weapon misfired so he was able to escape the home.
When police arrived on scene, officers found Young sitting at his kitchen table with a gun in his hand. Young told police he was “tired of his son, he had messed with him too many times.”
Regardless of his age, police said they were not taking any chances. “Its obviously dangerous, whether its someone that’s 15 years-old with a firearm shooting or someone that’s 87, it can still kill ya. The dangers are there and they’re real,” Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Cecil said.
Young was taken to Northern Regional Jail.
