A weekend robbery in Belmont County has police actively searching for three suspects. Officers at the Martins Ferry Police Department are zeroing in on three people who robbed Redman’s Club on South 5th Street early Saturday morning.
In surveillance video, the suspects physically subdue the bartender and go in for their sting. The woman involved in the crime has been a mystery to police all weekend, but on Monday, police figured out who she was. They are not releasing her name in hopes she will turn herself in.
One of the alleged suspects is identified as Buck Ward, in the video you can see Ward throwing a bottle of beer across the bar at his friend, Gary Anderson-Myers. Police said the two men created a diversion to start their crime. Anderson-Myers is the suspect who allegedly stole the items, while Ward physically subdued the bartender, as the woman stood watch.
Officers said both men have a criminal record, and they are optimistic all three will be in custody soon. “Officer George Shreve has done an excellent job at investigating the case and we hope here by the end of the day or later tomorrow we have all three of them in custody,” said Martins Ferry police Chief John McFarland.
Police quickly found Ward’s identity because he left his cell phone at the scene with his Facebook account easily accessible. Arrest warrants have been requested for the two men.
Police said they have received several tips on the whereabouts of Myers and Ward, and they are following up on tips. If you have any information about this crime, you can call the Lauttamus Security Crime Fighters tip line at 1-800-223-0312.
