Martins Ferry Schools Announce New Superintendent

The Martins Ferry Board of Education announced a new superintendent Monday night.

Jim Fogle will take over the position.

The move comes after current Superintendent Dirk Fitch tendered his retirement to the board about two months ago.

Fogle will take over effective February 1, with Fitch acting as his assistant throughout the month.

Fogle is the former principal of Martins Ferry High School, Ayers Elementary School, and served as assistant principal at Martins Ferry Middle School. He has been with the district for over 20 years.

Fitch will enter into retirement at the beginning of March. He has been serving as superintendent since 2010.
