Martins Ferry broke out the bats at home against Meadowbrook on Saturday.
In the fifth Corey Bennett would go opposite field for the Purple Riders and get it to fall in right field and score another run for the Riders to give them a 8-0 lead over the Colts.
Jacob Johnson then would come up for the Riders and ground one to short but beat the throw to first. Then some heads up base-running by Bennett led to a bad throw to third and he was rewarded for his hustle with the run, making it 9-0 Martins Ferry.
Kyle Anderson pitched 6 scoreless inning for Ferry but he would help his own cause at the plate in the 6th. Anderson hit a long fly ball that dropped in left field allowing Matthew Barbour to come home from third and the Purple Riders win Game 1 10-0 in 6 innings over Meadowbrook but the Colts would get revenge by winning Game 2 10-9 in 11 innings.
