Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott is asking the person or people responsible for distributing a fictitious letter in and around Wheeling to stop.

Mayor Elliott has shared a picture of the letter on social media after a number of people say they’ve been left at their homes and on their cars.

The Letter reads “It has been brought to my attention that you are operating a business without a license.
Will you please contact me at your earliest convenience to avoid prosecution. Signed Mayor, Glenn Elliot” , with a falsified signature.

Mayor Elliott said he would like for this to stop because it is probably scaring people and you know it’s not really from him because the author of the letter spells his last name incorrectly.

The letters have even been given to people living in Benwood, which is beyond city limits.
