McMechen Volunteer FD Mourns Loss of One of Their Own


The McMechen Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the passing of one of their own.

Sixty-seven year old firefighter Garry Rose died suddenly Friday at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling after transporting a patient there in the fire department’s ambulance.

Rose was a lifetime member of the department. He joined the fire department in 1977 and was a retired Safety Officer.

Viewing will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 from 12 to 8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home located at 202 Marshall Street in McMechen.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. at the St. James Church located at 322 Logan Street in McMechen.

Committal service will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery on National Road in Wheeling.All Fire and EMS agencies are welcome.
