Meeting Set to Discuss Addiction Problem in Ohio Valley

The drug problem tightly grips the Ohio Valley, but local representatives have come together to raise awareness of this huge issue. On Wednesday, December 10, a newly-formed committee will be going over the progress of fighting against the addiction problem in the Ohio Valley.

The Ohio Valley Addiction Action Plan consists of eight subcommittees, which each have several members. It was first organized last July. They specialize in different areas, such as law enforcement, media, education and treatment. They are working hard to combat addiction.

“There have been hundreds of hours invested in this by the people on these sub committees. Not just the chairs but the people under the chairs of the subcommittees and not one person that we’ve asked to help has said no. Instead every person has said, what can I do to help,” said United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld.

The meeting will be held at Wheeling Hospital on Wednesday, December 10 in the Auditorium at 6 p.m. Officials are hoping many people will come to the meeting to share ideas on combating addiction problems.
