Miner Being Transported by Medical Helicopter from Century Mine



New details on a story we’ve been following this morning.

We’ve learned a miner from Century mine is being taken to the hospital for “further evaluation” after experiencing an electrical shock, according to Murray Energy Spokesman Gary Broadbent.

Broadbent says the miner is conscious and in stable condition.

Belmont County 911 says they received a call shortly before 7:00 am Tuesday and that they were preparing for a medical helicopter to land near the mine to transport the miner.

We’re following a developing story out of Belmont where we’ve learned crews are preparing for a medical helicopter to land near Century Mine in Beallsville.

Belmont County 911 confirms they are going to transport a miner from the scene and that a call came in just before 7:00 am Tuesday.

We’ve reached out to a Murray Energy spokesperson who says they are not aware of this situation right now.

We’re working to gather more details we’ll update this story as soon as we’re provided more information.
