The Mingo Junction man charged with involuntary manslaughter after providing a Weirton woman with heroin appeared in court Friday.

George Clinton Kovach II was charged Monday with the manslaughter, as-well-as transporting and delivering heroin.

21-year-old Deanna Tibbs was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead of a heroin overdose this past weekend.

“It was a family friend. She did know this person. This person, she had issues of her own in the court system and this person was reference as a matter of fact in reports that I have of being a family friend or place she had stayed in the past,” said Hancock County prosecutor, Jim Davis.

Kovach is scheduled to be back in court next Friday.
