Miss Wheeling is waking up as the newly crowned Miss West Virginia.
Miss Wheeling, Chelsea Malone, took home the title last night at the Metropolitan Theater in Morgantown, succeeding, of course, former WTRF reporter Paige Madden.
Contestants competed in different events throughout the week including evening gown, talent, interview, fitness, and swimsuit.
“Well first off I’m excited to go to Miss America and represent our state and give them a show from West Virginia and really show that we’re there and we can do it. And then after that I’m so excited to go around to school and start my school tour and just open up the conversation about mental health in schools in West Virginia,” says Malone.
Both Chelsea and the new Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen, Braelynn Neely, were awarded college scholarships and now begin their preparations for the national competitions, as well as a year long tour of the state promoting their platforms.
