MISSING: 18-day-old baby sought by W.Va State Police

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office has issued Nation Wide Extradition Arrest Warrants for Christopher M. Derleth on charges of Aggravated Kidnapping and Child Abduction.


A pair of children from Illinois are believed to have been abducted by a relative and could be headed for West Virginia.  

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Katherine Derleth, 13, and Christopher Derleth, who is just 18-days-old, were last seen in Edwardsville, IL on Sunday, Sept. 18,2016.

Katherine is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Christopher is 18-inches longs and 8 pounds.  

The two children could be with an adult male relative. They are believed to be traveling in a 1996 Mercury Villager Van with Illinois license plate number E833210.

Police say the children could be headed for West Virginia or Texas.  

According to a release from the West Virginia Emergency Management Agency, the children were last seen on I-77 south at mile marker 94, just south of Charleston.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
