7News spoke with Christy Brown on the phone just before she boarded her plane to Texas Monday evening and she couldn’t fully express how relieved she was that her daughter Kylee Taylor was found safe.

After the week long search that had people across the region watching, and a dangerous 48 mile high speed car chase through Texas, Kylee Taylor’s mom is asking why?

“I guess we just wonder why, I mean where she was and why she would ever leave, you know, nobody in the house has really slept in a week,” said Brown.

Christy Brown said this week was an emotional roller coaster. Her husband passed away at work, and just a few days later, Kylee disappeared. Christy said now that Kylee is safe, she is beyond relieved.

“You know thank God, they’re there, she’s you know, we’re going to have her home and she’s going to be fine. But, I honestly thought they were here, I never ever thought they had gone that far, I just was completely shocked that they were in Texas,” said Brown.

Christy said she doesn’t know why she ran, Kylee’s dad lives in Texas, but they didn’t seem to be traveling to where he lives.

“I think they think they madly in love with each other and they need to be together. I don’t think they meant to cause as much trouble and drama as they you know, they did. I don’t think they meant to hurt everybody like they did, I think they could only see it one way,” said Brown.

Christy said speaking to Kylee for the first time was overwhelming.

“She was very scared kinda cold, kind of, she didn’t say much, you know, she didn’t want to give me a bunch of information she just kind of answered my questions bluntly, I love you, I love you too. I miss you, I miss you too,” said Brown.

One day, Christy said she hopes this story will just be a bump in the road for Kylee, who wants to be an oncologist, and for Matthew, who she calls a good kid.

“Hug her and love her and pick her brain, and you know see what’s going on and see what’s up with why all of this had to happen the way it did and why she felt she couldn’t talk to me about. If something’s bothering her why couldn’t she talk to me about it,” said Brown.

Christy asked that people respect their family’s privacy during this difficult time.
